JOCKEY Ryan Wiggins shared the riding honours at the Gold Coast today with a back-to-back double in the divisions of the QTIS 3YO Maidens.
Wiggins, Chris Munce and leading apprentice Tegan Harrison all landed doubles at today’s seven-race meeting.
Wiggins scored on the well-supported Patinack Farm runner Peron in the fillies’ division and backed up to win the colts and geldings’ Maiden on the Alan Bailey-trained Tax Exemption.
Making her racing debut, Peron firmed from $6 to run the $2.50 favourite and enjoyed a nice run in third behind the pace.
She drew away over the closing stages to beat Lady Butterfly ($3.20) by 1-3/4 lengths with a half-length to Purringa (($9.50) in third.
By Husson out of the Flying Spur mare Faster Pussycat, Peron was an $80,000 graduate of the 2011 Magic Millions sale.
Tax Exemption relished a return to a firmer track today to post a three-quarter of a length victory in his race after striking slow and heavy tracks at his only two previous starts last month.
A son of Ad Valorem, Tax Exemption was purchased by Ontrack Thoroughbreds for $33,000 at last year’s Magic Millions QTIS 600 sale.
