It was cold, windy and wet – but families still turned out in good numbers for the Gold Coast City Cup Raceday at the Gold Coast Turf Club today.

“I’m totally soaked, but really happy with the day” affirmed Marketing & Events Executive, Nikki Kay.  “While are numbers are definitely down on last years event, it is to be expected with the weather the way it is.”

Kids and adults braved the rain to enjoy free rides and entertainment, and take part in activities such as the Kids Fashions On The Field competition to win prizes from the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans, Draculas and Sea World.

Nikki admits that there were some thoughts to cancelling the day when the weather forecasts came through.  “We are glad we went ahead however, and today proved it as we received a lot of thanks from our patrons for keeping it on.  And in turn, we really appreciate the families coming out to support us and our nominated charity – Paradise Kids.”

Adds Nikki “some of the outfits in the fashions competition – from both the boys and girls, were just so cute, everyone really put a great effort in.”
