BROODMARE Romantico produced another winner when Little Long Horn broke through in good style at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
The Kelly Doughty-trained Little Long Horn ($4.60) led all the way to win the Glenzeil Clients QTIS 2YO Hcp (1200m) by 1-1/4 lengths from Platinum State ($5). Written Eleison ($15) was two lengths away in third.
Little Long Horn was having his second race start today after making his debut with a third to Aronson at Eagle Farm on July 11.
Little Long Horn is by the Queensland-based Danehill stallion Longhorn out of Romantic, a daughter of Groom Dancer.
Little Long Horn’s connections also race Romanitco’s previous foals Little Brown Horse and Little White Horse, both also trained by Doughty. Little Brown Horse has won four races so far and Little White Horse has won three times.
“But I think this one (Little Long Horn) will be the best of the three,’’ said Doughty.
Little Long Horn gave premier jockey Dan Griffin the first leg of a race-to-race double.
Griffin backed up in the next race to win the Glenzeil Site Team Class 3 Plate (900m) on the Helen Page-trained Seiyo ($3.50 fav).
