In-form Wharton lands roughie

SUNSHINE Coast-based jockey Kelvin Wharton continued his recent good run at the Gold Coast today when he caused a boilover on rank outsider Cee The Dragon.
Cee The Dragon was friendless in betting for the A&N Electrical/Pierite Lighting QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m) at $31 after failing to flatter at his previous three runs.
Coming off a 11.4 length 10th to Dazzle Us at Doomben on May 30, Cee The Dragon was a different horse today.
Always in a forward position, the Barry Bowditch-traned Cee The Dragon came away for a one length win over Just Pure Magic ($9) with a head to Wanda’s Girl ($26) in third.
Cee The Dragon’s win was the fifth week in a row that Wharton has ridden a winner at the Gold Coast. He combined in the first four weeks with winners at each meeting for Eagle Farm trainer Jeff Caught.
