Herecomesthetiger grabs deserved win
BALLINA gelding Herecomesthetiger made amends for his last Gold Coast appearance when he landed today’s Glenzeil Safety & Quality Team Class 3 Hcp (2200m).
The Terry McCarthy-trained Herecomesthetiger ($8) raced up to his recent solid form during the Grafton carnival earlier this month to post a one length win today for Grafton-based jockey Matt Paget. The Big Red Vee (($31) was second, a nose to the good of Wacheem ($10) in third.
“The last time he raced here at the Gold Coast (last November) he had no luck and probably should have won,’’ said part-owner Jamie Flood.
“His recent efforts in the Murwillumbah Cup and at Grafton over their carnival were pretty good efforts and we thought he’d race well in this race today on those runs.’’
Flood explained that one of his fellow owners was missing today, but had a good reason.
“Eric Robertson also part owns Aussie Triumph who won yesterday’s Ballina Bracelet,’’ he said.
“He had a big last night celebrating and wasn’t quite up to the trip up here this afternoon.’’
