Harrison, Morrisey cap off big day
LEADING trainer John Morrisey and apprentice Tegan Harrison both capped off a big afternoon when former Sydney galloper Footstepsinthedust won first-up at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Formerly trained by Guy Walter at Warwick Farm, Footstepsinthedust was resuming since finishing third over 2500m on the Kensington track last August.
Footstepsinthedust ($9) got back as expected in today’s Valentines Raceday Packages Class 4 Hcp (1200m) but charged home to beat Mini Delago ($17) by a long head. Miss Napolli ($11) was 1-1/4 lengths away in third.
It was the first time Footstepsinthedust had won first-up and also his first win in a race shorter than 1600m.
The Morrisey stable had a big day today after landing a double at the Doomben meeting with Leealan and Thefifthhole.
Harrison, apprenticed to Gold Coast trainer Bruce Hill, rode her first treble at the Gold Coast today after scoring earlier on Coup Rayvan and Little Miss Ombra.
