Guv's Lad seals Letherby double
Sat, 7th July 2012
APPRENTICE Jason Letherby completed a winning double when Guv’s Lad rediscovered winning form at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Letherby, who won earlier on pick-up ride Tutela, guided Guv’s Lad ($10) home in the Graham Thurston Memorial Class 1 Hcp (1800m).
It ended a frustrating run for Guv’s Lad’s connections as his previous win was back in January, 2011.
“It’s been a while between drinks, but his last run at Ipswich was much better than it looks on paper.’’
Guv’s Lad was also better placed at the weights today with Letherby’s 1.5kg allowance and drew away to beat Lentini Mist ($4.80) by a length with the same margin to Shimazu ($6.50) in third.
