Betty gives apprentice first provincial win
Sat, 21st July 2012
BRISBANE apprentice Michael McKenzie posted his first provincial winner when Just Betty drew away for an easy win at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
Apprenticed to the winner’s trainer Darren Bell at Deagon, McKenzie guided Just Betty ($8) to a 2-3/4-length win in the Glenzeil Contracts Administrators F&M Class 1 Hcp (1200m). Feelin’ Feisty ($4.60 fav) was second with a short head to Darlin’ Jules ($15) in third.
A daughter of Hidden Dragon from the now-deceased mare Love’s Riding, Just Betty was bred by part-owner Peter Bidewell.
Just Betty has now won two of her four starts, kicking off with her debut win at Doomben last February.
